ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar remarketed that the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) is protector of the fundamental rights of the Citizen and maintained that matter regarding the prices of medicines use for hepatitis treatment links to the health of the state.

Three member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took the case for hearing on Thursday.

Saqib Nisar said that remarked that if the government does not determine the prices of the medicines as per law then the court can interfere into it.

He said that there are lots of pending cases in the court adding that Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan (Drap) has been formed on the direction of the SC.

The counsel of private companies contended that Drap dealt with registration applications on the subtractive basis.

To which the CJ remarked that   it is possible to seek the record from Drap and adjourned the hearing till Friday (today).
