ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved reduction in power tariff by Rs 2.13 per unit under Fuel Adjustment Surcharge (FAs).
NEPRA has said that power distribution companies have recovered additional charges from the consumers in the month of July. 10.71 billion units were sold in the month for July. The total fuel cost stood at Rs 46 billion. On the other hand production cost of electricity remained Rs 4.35 per unit while charges were recovered from the consumers at the rate of Rs 6.49 per unit. Therefore, decision was taken to scale down tariff by Rs 2.13 per unit.
The consumers will be provided relief to the tune of Rs 13 billion during the month of September. However consumers having consumption below 300 units per month will not be entitled to this relief.
