ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has said there is a room in the constitution that disqualified person can be a party head.

On Thursday, three member bench of apex court headed by chief justice heard the writ petitions regarding disqualified person becoming party head.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan directed Babar Awan, lawyer of Imran Khan to give arguments on Article 203 of Election Act 2017 contrary to constitution. He inquired is there an example of including articles of repealed legislation to a new legislation.

Counsel of Imran Khan replied section 203 added to fade out the effects of Panama decision. 

Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar said standing committee has added section 203 in proposed legislation and all political parties consented on it.

 CJ asked Babar Awan to give an example of repealing or preparing a legislation for individual interest, on this he replied on the basis of majority in parliament such legislation passed.

CJ expressed dismay on Babar Awan, and said court would like to discuss party leader not Nawaz Sharif. Court adjourned till today (Friday)
