ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has given one week time to state minister for interior Talal Chaudhry to appoint his counsel in contempt of court case.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Ijaz Afzal and comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Faisal Arab took up the case against Talal Chaudhry for hearing Tuesday.
Talal Chaudhry appeared in the court. He prayed the court to give him 3 weeks time for appointing his counsel.
The court rejected his plea and gave him time for one week.
Justice Ejaz Afzal inquired why 3 weeks, why not three years.
Talal Chaudhry said the lawyers are pre-occupied therefore, he has sought 3 weeks time.
The court however rejected Talal Chaudhry plea and gave him time for one week besides adjourning the hearing of the case till February 13 (Tuesday).
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had issued contempt of court notice to Talal Chaudhry for allegedly using insulting language against judges in public meeting at Jaranwala.
On the other hand Talal Chaudhry has said that he had talked about PCO judges.
