ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has sought reply from the federal government on the matter of non induction of Prosecutor General (PG) during the course of hearing of bail applications of persons involved in Madarba case and adjourned hearing of the case till Monday.
The court remarked “ it should be told to us what steps have been taken with regard to appointment of judge of Accountability Court (AC) and PG.
A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Gulzar Ahmad took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.
The counsel for the accused told the court during the hearing of the case that his clients were in jail while the post of judge of accountability court No 2 was lying vacant since September, 2017.
Justice Gulzar Ahmad inquired why judge was not appointed in AC.
Counsel for NAB told the court that federal government has to make appointment of judge of the accountability court and the federal government has also not appointed PG. NAB is facing difficulties due to lack of these appointments. The other judge of AC NO 1 will also be retired in March.
The court while issuing notice to Attorney General (AG) on the points raised by NAB counsel remarked” tell us what steps have been taken in connection with appointment of judge of accountability court and PG. Attorney general should give reply on the points raised by NAB counsel.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till Monday.
