ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly from Faisalabad Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan took oath as Minister of State at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath at a simple ceremony held here .
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, parliamentarians and senior government officials attended the ceremony which was conducted in Urdu.
The President Mamoon Hussain congratulated Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan for assuming the charge of Minister of State and expressed the hope that he will fulfil his responsibilities and duties using his full potential for the benefit of the people.
Sources said that Rana Muhammad Afzal, will be given the portfolio of Ministry of Finance, which is still vacant as Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar is on medical leave and living in London. He was sent on medical leave, as he is facing corruption charges and his case is under trial before the NAB court and he is avoiding to appear in the court and went to London where he admitted in a hospital. The government accepted his three month medical leave and the office of Minister of Finance was vacant, therefore, now the government has decided to appoint Rana Afzal Khan as Minister of State for Finance who took oath of his office on Tuesday.
