Shah Rukh Jatoi sentenced to death in Shahzeb murder case

KARACHI: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has awarded death sentence on Shahrukh Jatoi and Seraj Talpur and life imprisonment to Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari in Shah Zeb murder case.

During the previous hearing of the case, judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon had rejected on the basis of medical report a plea from Shah Rukh Jatoi, prime accused in this case seeking determination of his age and reserved the judgment till Friday.

The accused Shah Rukh Jatoi took the plea through his counsel Shaukat Hayat that his age is below 18 years while the medical reports were worked out under pressure wherein he was declared adult.

The court rejected his plea on the basis of medical reports after hearing the arguments from the counsels of both sides.

It may be recalled that Shah Zeb son of Aurangzeb DSP was murdered on the night between December, 24 and 25 in Defence. Shah Rukh Jatoi, son of Sikandar Jatoi, Seraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur, Ghulam Murtaza Lashari and other accused were named in FIR.

The clauses of terrorism were also made part of the case after suo moto notice was taken in respect of this case by the Supreme Court (SC).

Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon of ATC indicted the detained accused on March, 7. Statements of 25 witnesses including 2 eye witnesses were recorded. The judgment of the case was reserved on June, 3.

The accused Khurram Muhammad, Nawab Jatoi and Asif are at large and they have been declared proclaimed offenders.

Counsel for Shah Rukh has said that he will file appeal against the verdict within seven days.
