A two-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry hearing the case announced verdict over the AG as prosecutor.
The SC has also sought a list of senior lawyers from the registrar to appoint a prosecutor in the case. The SC detached AG Irfan Qadir from the Malik Riaz contempt case due to his biased behaviour.
The bench had reserved the judgment on Monday. On Monday, Justice Afzal told the AG that it will not be appropriate for the Attorney General to serve as prosecutor in the case.
Meanwhile the Attorney General also submitted a request to make Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry a witness in the case, adopting the position that judges have appeared before the court in the past.
The AG added that in order to prove Malik Riaz wrong it is important for the Chief Justice to appear before the court.
