Imran Khan announces to move SC against Khawaja Asif

Dated: 2012-08-08

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan Tuesday said that he would go to court against PML-N lawmaker Khawaja Asif, who accused him of misusing funds of Shaukat Khanam Cancer Hospital.

Addressing a press conference here, Khan lashed out at Asif for hurling allegations against the country’s biggest charity organization during the holy month of Ramazan.

He said that the allegations had dented the organization’s reputation. Khan said that Asif had deliberately targeted the hospital in Ramadan.

“I request Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take up this case immediately as PML-N wants to launch a campaign against Shaukat Khanam Hospital,” he said.

“I request the court to save Shaukat Khanam from the PML-N’s propaganda.” Khan said that Nawaz Sharif was hiding behind Chaudhry Nisar and Khawaja Asif and failed to respond to his 11 questions. “I am going to move the Supreme Court of Pakistan against Khawaja Asif for hurling allegation on me and Salman Akram Raja would be my lawyer,” the PTI chief said.

He said that the Nawaz-League wanted to damage his credibility and ruin the Shaukat Khanam like it did in the past. Imran Khan demanded of the CJ to immediately take up his plea because N-Leagues election campaign would be based on Shaukat Khanam.

Khan said that he was going to construct Shaukat Khanam Hospital’s in Peshawar and Karachi since overwhelming majority of the patients didn’t find place in a single cancer hospital.

The PTI chairman said that he had built an international standard university in Mianwali where 80 percent of poor students are receiving world class education.

Khan said that he would have to also collect funds for the NUML University as well adding that N-league campaign against him could ruin this noble cause too.

“I am not establishing factories and industries like Sharif bothers and other political leaders doing with national wealth, I’m making welfare institutes but my opponents making hurdles in it,” he added.
