3 militants, 2 soldiers killed in Peshawar operation

PESHAWAR: Security forces and police conducted a joint operation against terrorists in the city’s sensitive area of Cantt, where three terrorists were killed, officials said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two security men were martyred in the operation.
According to security forces officials, a report was received regarding the presence of terrorists in Cantonment area near Mall Road in the city. On this tip off, police and other law enforcement forces conducted joint search operation in the area.
Tear gas was used during hours long operation amid sustained exchange of fire among the security personnel and saboteurs.
According to preliminary reports, three terrorists are said to be killed in the operation, during which Saddar Road and Mall Road were kept closed overnight.
It should be mentioned here that the killed terrorists had escaped from the custody of security forces few months ago.
