LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday suspended the assembly membership of MPA Rana Asif, hailing from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over possessing dual citizenship.

Media Reports say the court forbade the N-League’s MPA from attending the Punjab Assembly, remarking that Rana Asif possesses a Canadian passport, which is issued only to citizens.

Suspending Rana’s membership from Punjab Assembly, the court said the ones who have dual nationality, cannot become members of the assembly.

The LHC, adjourning the hearing till October 12, called Rana Asif’s passport in the next hearing.
