Ali de Winter named Australia bowling coach

SYDNEY: Former Tasmania state fast bowler Ali de Winter has been chosen ahead of Pakistan great Waqar Younis as Australian cricket’s new bowling coach, replacing Craig McDermott.
Cricket Australia team performance general manager Pat Howard said de Winter had been chosen from a wide field of international candidates, including Younis.

Cricket Australia team performance general manager Pat Howard said de Winter had been chosen from a wide field of international candidates, including Younis.
The 44-year-old de Winter is currently assistant coach of Tasmania and head coach of the Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s Big Bash Twenty20 league.
McDermott stepped down in May after a year as bowling coach, citing Australia’s heavy touring schedule.
