CHARSADDA: Protests against power load shedding continue as public patience is running out. Power outages led to protests in several cities of the country including Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Faisalabad in Punjab.
Traders in Charsadda observed a complete strike by shutting down their shops and businesses. The strike call was given by the Charsadda Anjuman-i-Tajran against load shedding while the protestors blocked Tangi Road for sometime by torching tyres.
The situation in Charsadda is similar to other cities in the province. In Nowsehra residents are braving 18/20 hours of loadshedding which has also created water scarcity in the houses and mosques.
An infant was also killed during a traffic jam during loads shedding protests in Shangla.
Meanwhile FIRs have been registered against 400 people who staged demonstrations at Tandiawala, outskirts of Faisalabad. Other cities and towns of Punjab are also plagued by 10/12hours of unannounced loadshedding.
Sindh’s urban and rural areas are also hit by 12/14 hours of power outages completely paralyzing life and throwing the trade and industry to wreck.
The situation in Balochistan is no better, as domestic and commercial customers here are also suffering 16/18 of loadshedding making life unbearable.
