Preparatory work for development of the action plan began at TVET Coordination Forum here on Monday, where officials from NAVTTC and Federal Public sector institutes imparting technical training/education and vocational training (TTVT) participated. NAVTTC Director General Planning and Development Shahrukh Nusrat opened the forum with a comprehensive briefing on the NAVTTC, being the apex body for Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector and the custodian of the NSS.
TVET Reform Support Program, a five-year initiative supported by the European Union, the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Federal Republic of Germany, being implemented by GIZ (German Technical Cooperation), is facilitating NAVTTC and provinces to prepare action plans for implementation of NSS to meet the skills demand of their workforce for employability within country and overseas .
The National Skills Strategy is a key policy document prepared by the NAVTTC to revamp Pakistan’s TVET sector and make it a just, prosperous and industrialized country by year 2030. This strategy addresses the weakness in the current TVET delivery system through a number of actions.
In the TVET Coordination Forum public sector organizations were given briefings on the activities of NAVTTC and an overview of the NSS to seek their feedback on revamping and reorienting the development interventions in TVET sector through their inputs. Similarly, issues of duplication and redundancy also came under discussion besides looking at the way forward for TVET sector in Pakistan.
At this occasion, representatives of different Federal Public sector organizations involved in the TVET sector also gave presentations on their respective organizations.
