DEEPALPUR: Federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has said that National Assembly, by electing Raja Pervez Ashraf as prime minister shattered the dreams of goosy and opportunist politicians.

Talking to a ceremony organized by Waseela-e-Haq, Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), for donating an amount of Rs 4 million among 24 deserving women, federal minister Manzoor Wattoo said some politicians were dreaming for the end of the tenure of the present government after Supreme Court’s ruling against former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani.

National Assembly has ruined all such dreams by electing Raja Pervez Ashraf as prime minister of Pakistan by two-thirds majority, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo noted.

Federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Mian Manzoor Wattoo said the so-called national leaders flee abroad fearing of cases and jails, but Pakistan People’s Party is the custodian of democratic system, constitution and the people.

Mian Manzoor Wattoo further said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for democracy, supremacy of the constitution and poor people, adding that she was prevented from returning to Pakistan but instead of staying in exile, she fought the case for the judiciary and poor people confronting a dictator.

He said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto got status of a martyr and was sleeping in peace in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh but she left behind her a program for the welfare of poor women of the country.

He said millions of families are benefiting from the program.

In Tehsil of Deepalpur alone, about 14,000 families are getting stipends, while another 20,000 families are being included in the program and payments will be made to them within the next two months, he observed.

Before Manzoor Wattoo’s address, Divisional Director BISP, Muhammad Irfan and Assistant Director, Deepalpur, Mian Hassan Mehmood Wattoo briefed the audience about BISP.
