NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan's foreign ministers, meant to hold talks on July 18, will re-schedule their session.

NDTV quoting sources in the government say Foreign Affairs Minister SM Krishna has asked for new dates in August or September because elections for the next President of India are scheduled for July 19. Mr Krishna was meant to travel to Islamabad for the dialogue.

The TV channel quoting sources said that India is also keen for the political landscape in Pakistan to stabilize before the bilateral talks are held.

Pakistan's ruling party elected its new Prime Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf, last week. He replaces Yousuf Raza Gilani who was disqualified by the Supreme Court after it convicted him of contempt of court for refusing to reopen cases of corruption against President Asif Ali Zardari.
