Malik to file defamatory notice against anchorpersons

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik said that he would file defamatory notice worth of Rs 3 billion against respective anchorpersons who dragged him into Dr Arsalan Iftikhar film scandal.

Talking to media persons in Islamabad, Rehman Malik said that he had no knowledge of any film pertaining to Arsalan Iftikhar, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

The former federal interior minister also said that the accusations hurled by certain television anchorpersons were unfounded and fabricated

He said that he is ready to leave politics, if proved that he was involved in the making of Dr Arsalan’s video.

He clarified that the government has no connection with Dr Arsalan case, adding that it is not fair to drag the government into the battle of two persons. He said that neither he nor the federal interior ministry had any information on a film pertaining to Arsalan Iftikhar

Rehman Malik said that the security in red zone has been beefed up on the behest of the registrar Supreme Court while foolproof security is being provided to the CJ’s son by the government.

He said that Malik Riaz statement by holding pocket sized holy Quran during the press conference had cleared the government position in this case as Malik Riaz clarified that the government was not involved in this matter, adding that the Apex court it self has taken Suo motu notice against Dr Arsalan case.

He said that he always paid respect to apex court even after his disqualification from the designation of interior minister, adding that he appeared before the court whenever he was summoned.
