PM orders authorities to end unscheduled load shedding

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Wednesday took notice of the ongoing load-shedding problem in the country and directed the authorities concerned to immediately end the unscheduled outages.

The decision was taken at the Federal Cabinet meeting chaired the premier, reviewing overall political and economic situation of the country as well.
The PM directed the cabinet committee on energy to present its report within one week.
The committee comprises Finance, Petroleum, Water and Power and Information ministers, deputy chairman Planning Commission and governor State Bank of Pakistan.
“Measures are being taken to balance demand and supply of the electricity and the government priorities fulfilling power requirements,” Gilani said.
Moreover, weekly meeting of the energy body would also be chaired by the PM.
The cabinet was briefed that Pakistan is currently facing energy shortfall of 3500 Megawatt
