An ISPR statement has strongly rejected Indian media reports, that Pakistan’s COAS, Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani would be meeting the Indian defense minister A.K. Anthony in Singapore’s June 01st, Sigari-la dialogue moot, as baseless and untrue.
The ISPR spokesman has said that COAS would not be attending the Sigari-la moot at all.
It is pertinent to note that the Indian media had claimed that Pakistan’s COAS was expected to meet the Indian Defense minister during the Singapore moot, next week, whence they would also discuss the Siachen issue.
Gen Kayani had already given his statement regarding the any de-militarization of Siachen which had been categorically rejected by the Indian Army chief, over having a ‘decisive edge due to occupation of heights’, feeling ‘quite comfortable’ with its (Indian) positions.
The moot, which would be debating such issues as terrorism, natural calamities, environmental changes, besides others, would also be attended by the American defense secretary, Leon Panetta.
