ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the job of opposition is not only to topple the government but to cooperate with the government and point out the flaws.
He was addressing the joint session of the Parliament here during his official visit to Islamabad. Tayyip said that to respect the aspirations of the people is necessary as there is not any force greater than public power. The rule is the duty given by the people, whereas opposition is equally responsible to strengthen the country.
He said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoy cordial relationship and time tested friendship. Turkish government and people always deem Pakistanis their brother. Both the countries share the moments of contentment as well as distress of each other..
“During the destructions of the past both Pakistan and Turkey presented a precedent in front of world by continuing mutual cooperation. Turkey would ever be grateful to Pakistan for helping in the hard times during war of independence. There is not any example round the globe of such a warm friendship. The people of Turkey consider Pakistan their second home.
He said that he met Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani . “We talked to increase trade and economic ties . Further round of talks for enhancing cooperation between both sides would be held on the occasion of the meeting of Pak-Turk Cooperation Council at Ankara”, The Turkish PM added.
He said that the trade volume between two countries would be boosted upto two million dollars . It is the efforts of both sides to enhance trade . He said that it is the need of hour to vast the road and air links between Pakistan and Turkey so as people to people contact may be enlarged.
He said that the people of Pakistan offered countless sacrifices in the war against terrorism and it is not alone in the struggle . Turkey fully understand the position and experiences of Pakistan and would continue to support Pakistan against terrorists. Erdogan said that that the establishment of peace in Afghanistan would certainly impact on Pakistan “We completely show our solidarity for the regional peace”, he assured Parliament.
He said that Turkey always helped Pakistan in any tough time or any natural calamity like flood and earthquake. He thanked Speaker National Assembly Dr Fahmida Mirza and Acting Chairman Senate Sabir Baloch for giving second opportunity to speak with the Parliament in last three years.
