Taliban release video tape of Bannu jail assault

BANNU: Taliban have released the video of Bannu jail attack in which leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Hakimullah Mehsud is briefing his fighters’ squad.

Tape also contains messages of Adnan Rasheed who was allegedly involved in plotting the murder of former president Parvez Musharraf.

A 34 minutes video is being sold openly in various areas of North Waziristan and South Waziristan in which Hakimullah Mehsud is briefing his warrior’s team through map containing different routes leading towards Bannu jail and also briefing the inside situation of the jail.

The video tape shows some 150 fighters including Hakimullah Mehsud and Wali ur Rehman gathered at one place and form a strategy to assault the jail and attacked the jail with heavy weaponry without facing any hurdle from police side. Other scenes after the attack are also present in the tape having top militants who managed to escape from the jail.

Further scenes show the cheerful moments when top leaders of Taliban are congratulating Adnan Rasheed for managing escape and fighters on successful mission. All the top militants demanded the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

Taliban sources said the actions were carried out for 1 and a half hour to 2 hours and managed to release 384 prisoners in a pre-dawn assault. Adnan Rasheed stated in a video tape he was certain that his friends would release him from imprisonment some day. No response has been observed yet from the sides of police authorities and provincial government.

On April 15, More than 150 heavily armed Taliban militants traveling in several vehicles attacked the Central Jail in Bannu, Southern District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, releasing 384 prisoners in a pre-dawn assault. The Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) had claimed responsibility for raiding the jail. TTP had claimed that they attacked the jail with hundreds of fighters.
