Pak Army medical team to stay in Indonesia for more time on govt request

RAWALPINDI: Emergency services and medical treatment being provided by the Pakistan Army Medical Contingent in Central Java, Indonesia have been very highly appreciated. Now that the international assistance effort is coming to its end, the Pakistan Army Medical Contingent will stay back for an extended tenure of duty on the request of the people of the region where deployed and the Indonesian government.

It may be recalled that Banjul, Central Java was struck by an earthquake on 27th May 2006. government of Pakistan had airlifted an mobile hospital of Pakistan Army for deployment at the affected area.

It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan Army seventy five beds Field Hospital, which proceeded to Indonesia on June 2 have treated so far over 1100 outdoor patients and operated upon over fifty others for major and minor surgeries since their arrival in the affected areas, As many as 15 patients are still admitted while the score have been discharged after providing them the necessary medical treatment. The medical team of Pakistan Army is capable of treating 300 outdoor patients per day including surgery. The field hospital is also equipped with a Mobile Surgical Unit which is capable of undertaking twenty five major surgeries in a day. The hospital is carrying an Operation Theater, X-Ray unit, Field Laboratory, dental Unit, Orthopedic Unit and 10 tons of medicine.
