Tasawwuf is not limited to Muslims only, says Ahmad Jawed

ISLAMABAD: Well-known Scholar, intellectual and Deputy Director, Iqbal Academy Ahmad Jawed has said that the concept of Sufism is actually a universal effort to explore the reality that is not limited to Muslims only.

He was delivering a lecture on ’Taswwuf in Islamic thought ¨C an Appraisal’ organized by the Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Rector IIUI, Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi, President IIUI, Dr. SM Zaman, Director General IRI and a number of scholars and intellectuals from the twin cities of Rawalpinid and Islamabad were also present on this occasion on Wednesday.

Continuing the lecture, Mr. Jawed said that just like a non-Muslim doctor or lawyer, an expert of Tasawwaf too can be a non-Muslim.

"Tasawwuf is a search for the eternal truth that can be carried out be adherent of any religion. Eternal Truth is one, universal and the only real source of the existence of the rest of the things in the universe", he added.
