PML playing vital role in country’s prosperity, development: Muqam

CHITRAL: Federal Minister for Political Affairs with Additional Charge of Federal Departments (NWFP) and President PML of NWFP chapter Engineer Amir Maqam has said that his party is playing a pivotal role in prosperity and development of the country that is why a record annual Budget to the tune of Rs. 15,00 Billion is presented for the financial year 2006-07.

Addressing PML Workers convention at Chitral Tuesday, he said that President Pervez Musharraf has no personal agenda but he is acting upon agenda of welfare of people and stability of Pakistan.

He said that President Musharraf will soon inaugurate Lowari Tunnel Project which is the long standing demand of the area and will resolve grievances of the people in communication. The Project will be completed at a cost of Rs.12 Billion. The Golen Gole Hydro Project will also be completed and sufficient amount has been allocated for the project under PSDP 2006-07. This is also a great achievement of the President Musharraf and PML Government which will resolve Power problems of Chitral area and also create job opportunities for the locals.

He said Chitral Gilgit Road is also included in PSDP 2006-07 which will also be pleasant change in lives of Chitrali People. Attacht irrigation scheme is also included in PSDP which will irrigate many acres of barren lands of Chitral.

He said that Rs. 415 Billion have been set aside for development projects in the Budget for the Fiscal year 2006-07 under which more than 200 development projects will be executed in NWFP with Federal Government funds for the first time in the history of the province. The government has also announced 15% raise in Government employees salaries besides increase in pension to provide relief to the salaried class.

He went on saying that due to the courageous leadership of President, Pakistan’s Defence has become invincible and no one can dare to look at our country with malign intention. He said that advancement in defence technology has been achieved due to the dynamic leadership of President and Pakistan Muslim League.

Engineer Amir Maqam said that due to the leadership of President Musharraf and Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Foreign Exchange reserves have been increased from $1 Billion to almost $13 Billion during last few years which shows the economic stability of our country.

He said that problems of people are being solved at their doorsteps due to the introduction of new local Government system in the country by the present government. Maximum participation has been given to the women folk in the national, provincial assemblies and District Government system, he remarked.

Referring to the demands presented in the Welcome address, Federal Minister announced Rs. 200 Million for electrification in the area. Efforts would be made to provide high power transmitter to radio Pakistan Chitral, establishment of TV Boosters for better coverage of PTV Transmission, construction of roads under Presidents Package for Chitral and installation of PTCL Wireless Loop towers.

Earlier, Senior Vice President Pakistan Muslim League N.W.F.P and ex- Nazim District Chitral Shahzada Mohiuddin in a welcome address, highlighted the problems faced by the far flung areas of the District. He demanded that an early work should be initiated on Lowari Tunnel Project.

Convention was also addressed by Saeed Ahmad, Shakoor Muhammad and Abdul Wali Khan Advocate.

Federal Minister for Political Affairs also met with delegations of journalists, bar association, elite of Ourgouch Village, students and many others. He assured them that their problems would be solved on priority basis.

Earlier on reaching Chitral the Federal Minister for Political Affairs was received at the Airport by Senior Vice President PML NWFP and Ex-Federal Minister Shahzada Mohiuddin, ex- MPA Sayed Ahmad Khan, District Nazim Chitral Haji Maghfirat Shah, DCO Chitral Abdul Ghafoor Baig, DPO Chitral, Cmdt. Chitral Scouts and thousands of PML Workers.
