Musharraf uttering MQM’s words: JUI (P) ISLAMABAD: Despite President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s assurances the ruthless killings of our activists are still going on in Karachi and it seems that Mr President is hapless in front of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, said Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair, MNA and senior vice president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUI-P). Talking to newsmen at parliament lodges on Tuesday, he lambasted the ineffectiveness of government in controlling the killings of JUI activists to what he called is only the work of MQM. Sahibzada Jamil Hashmi, senior vice president Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Punjab, Hamid Raza Bhatti, president Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Islamabad, Colonel (R) Dr Faiz Rasool, member Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Pakistan Shoora Punjab chapter, Noorul Mustafa Noorani, Chief Organizer Youth Affairs were also present on the occasion. Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair said we feel President Musharraf is under the enchantment of MQM as he only speaks their language. "The way we kept our activists quite after Nishtar Park tragedy, speaks volume of the fact that we cherish peace whereas the situation is simply voice versa in MQM’s case," he noted. We are peaceful but they are pushing us towards extremism, he warned and added despite assurances held out by President and Prime minister the day after Nishtar Park tragedy our activists were shot dead by police. He said at present the situation is very tense in Karachi and the magma in metropolis is about to erupt and nobody will be able to control if this situation arises. JUI MNA also pointed out that he raised the issue from NA floor in presence of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain that MQM was behind killings of JI activists. For the last two years MQM has been targeting our activists and ’NO GO’ areas have been made in Karachi and people could not meet their families living in these areas for last two years, he added. When we raise the issue before Sindh governor, he (governor) says action will be taken against such elements but on the second day our activists are found shot dead. In his response to the new situation governor says such people will be kicked out from the party who are behind the killings, however we only ask why these people are not punished, Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair underscored. Prime minister has formed a committee comprising of Ulema, however the presence of Chief Minister Sindh Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Governor Sindh Ishrat ul Ibaad is a big impediment over the resolution of such matters, in their presence a DIG cant do anything, how could we expect something from low ranking police officers. Responding to a query, he said FIR has been registered against JUI activists for holding memorial references in Hyderabad to pay homage to martyrs of Nishtar Park Tragedy. Even a case has been registered against our party’s MPA Abdul Rehman, this is sheer injustice and we condemn it, he added. Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair also pointed if government can launch an operation against Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti then why similar kind of action can’t be taken against MQM, which has clearly challenged the writ of government in Sindh. He also pointed out that president general Pervez Musharraf shifted his stance over construction of Kalabagh Dam after being pressurized by Altaf Hussain. Over the arrest of veteran JI leader Sarfaraz Naeemi, he said Mufti Muneebur Rehman has time and again assured president Musharraf that he (Sarfaraz Naeemi) is innocent but for last three days he is languishing in lock up. |
