Federal Cabinet condemns bomb blasts in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet Thursday severely condemned the bomb blasts in Karachi urging for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators who are behind such gruesome incidents.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz presided over the Federal Cabinet meeting on Thursday that was held in PM Secretariat.

The Federal Cabinet under PM Shaukat Aziz discussed host of issues especially awareness of Bird Flu and actual facts behind the virus and preventive measures regarding it.

The cabinet also gave provincial rights to the respected provinces on the ocassion of countrywide strike scheduled to be observed on Friday (today).

On the other hand, stringent security measures will be taken on the arrival of US President George W Bush and in this respect an unprecedented security plan has been approved.

Federal Cabinet unanimously condemned the Karachi blasts and said that such acts are excruciating and such culprits are against the development of Pakistan.

They opine that such culprits are not human beings and will be dealt with iron hands.

The Interior Ministry gave a formal briefing to the meeting regarding the overall security situation in the country especially concerning Karachi gruesome bomb blasts.

It was told that in the initial investigations it could be a suicide bomb attack, however further investigations are underway to probe the matter.

PM Shaukat Aziz has directed law enforcement agencies to keep a strict vigilance on suspicious elements and bolster security measures on the arrival of US President in Islamabad.

He further said that on the call of MMA, country wide strike will be held and provincial rights have been given to all the four provinces to curtail happening of any untoward incident during the strike.

Foreign Minister on the ocassion briefed the cabinet regarding the blasphemous issue and said that it will be raise in UN and all international forums.

Meanwhile Health Minister Naseer Khan gave a briefing on Bird Flu underlining that people must be extra careful while eating chickens following cases in Charsada and Abottabad.

The Northern Areas’ Administration has imposed ban on poultry products from down country areas.

In addition, PM directed that people must be given full information regarding Bird Flu so that they can take preventive measures at the earliest.
