PM reassures sacrilegious cartoons issue to be raised at all global forums ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz
has said the government of Pakistan has
condemned the publishing of
sacrilegious caricatures appeared in
some western newspapers at all forums
worldwide. He said this while talking to PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and chief whip of the National Assembly Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dareshak at Prime Minister house on Sunday. He said that Pak Ambassador to Denmark has been recalled. He further said that Pakistan has raised the issue at all forums OIC and UN. "We believe in freedom of press, however it should not be used to hurt the religious sensibilities of the followers of any faith. No one will be allowed create a law and order situation in the country", he said. Shaukat Aziz told the meeting that the government has invited the OIC Secretary General to visit Pakistan next week to chalk out a collective strategy for the Ummah to deal with such issues. He said that keeping in view the centenary celebrations of the formation of PML, reorganization of the party and upcoming elections came under discussion during the meeting. In another important meeting District Nazim Attock, Major (R) Tahir Sadiq, who called on him at PM House this evening the prime minister said that work on the new Islamabad airport would start very soon. He said that the new airport would be equipped with state-of-the-art facility and will usher in economic boom for the residents of the area. More employment opportunities will open-up for the local population, he added. District Nazim Attock briefed the PM about the various development projects underway in the district including roads, gas, water supply, electricity, health and education sectors. Prime minister expressed his satisfaction over the pace of development work in the area and appreciated the contribution of Attock district towards the rehabilitation of earthquake affectees. The PM said that provision of justice to the masses at their doorstep is governments prime priority for which reforms are being introduced at all levels. |
