13 reconstruction projects completed in Afghanistan’s Kunar

ASADABAD: The American civil aid agency renovated the old building of the Central Bank of Afghanistan in Kandahar while 13 new projects were completed by the National Solidarity Programme in the Khas Kunar district of the eastern Kunar province.

Building of Da Afghanistan Bank, which was out of use in the past, was reconstructed by an American aid agency CAPT at the cost of US$ 317,000.

Chief of the Kandahar branch of the bank Fazal Ahmad Azami told Pajhwok Afghan News on Sunday facilities like computers and Internet had also been installed in the newly-renovated building. It also had firefighting equipment.

Meanwhile, 13 new reconstruction projects were completed at the cost of three million Afghanis in the Khas Kunar district of the eastern Kunar province.

Provincial chief of the advisory committee of the National Solidarity Programme Engineer Kiramatullah Qadar told this news agency the newly-completed projects included provision of electricity, pavement of roads and a 210 metre protective wall.

Qadar said some 1,013 families would benefit from the projects. He informed work on 360 projects was initiated in five districts of the province. Of these, 80 projects had been completed. He said new schemes would be launched in Asadabad, Watapur, Manogai and Chapa Dara districts this year.

Tahir, district chief of Khas Kunar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the new projects had provided job opportunities as well a number of other facilities for the people of the area. "We will provide security to all NGOs working for the welfare of the people," he vowed.

Haji Aziz Ullah, resident of the Khas Kunar, said they would appreciate projects which solve people’s problems. He said embankment had saved their farmland from erosion while construction of roads had helped providing an easy access to cities and other areas.

It is pertinent to recall that 10 reconstruction projects were completed in the Narang district of the province on Thursday.
