Sufis countered sectarianism in South Asia: Mushahid

ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of Ruling Party Mushahid Hussain Syed has said that Sufis have been true heralds of peace, enlightenment and moderation countering the sectarianism in the South Asia.

"They have laid the true foundation of humanity and human relationships are above everything in the world," he said while addressing a conference on Hazrat Imam Bari Sarkar organized by Pakistan Muslim League cultural wing here on Saturday.

He said that modern education had not rooted out the concepts of extremism and sectarianism and in west, PHD holders were against Islam and Muslim traditions.

"Concept of clash between west and Muslim civilizations did not emerge from any Islamic seminaries and Muslims and it was floated from the professor of Howard University in 1991," he added.

He said that enlightenment, moderation and tolerance were part of our tradition and we were real heirs of these nourishing ideals and added that Pakistan Muslim League had established a council to promote and spread the message of mystic figures.

He said that the council would make all out efforts and take all possible measures to spread these ideals as these could guarantee for holding a peace among different strata of the society.

He maintained that politics had its roots in the masses and its passions and the culture and Muslim culture was incomplete without the mystic figures as they had great role in the sub-continent.

He added that Sufis rule over the hearts of the masses and were a part of our history and all political parties should join hands to save the cultural heritage of the Muslims.
