PM lauds fire and rescue team of Karachi city KARACHI: Prime minister Shaukat Aziz has appreciated the fire and rescue team of city District Government Karachi for their courageous and exemplary work in removing rubbles of Margalla Towers and rescuing people from there after the earthquake of October, 08th . The prime ministers was chairing a meeting at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House today. Governor Sindh , Chief Minister Sindh and senior officers of Provincial Government and the fire and rescue team attended the meeting. The Prime Minister said the excellent performance shown by the team of Fire and Rescue Service, City Government Karachi shows Pakistan has adequate indigenous capabilities in the field. He said more people will be given professional training in the relief and rescue work. The Prime Minister announced one month salary for the workers who participated in the relief and rescue work at Margalla Towers. The Prime Minister was informed that 540 people have been trained by the Karachi Fire Brigade Department in the fire and rescue work. The Prime Minister said the Govt. is setting a coordinated disaster management system which will have participation of various related departments of Federal, Provincial and city Govt. He said civil society and NGOs will also be part of this system. He said the Govt. is also setting a disaster management agency for crises management in case of any future unfortunate in incident . |
