Army troops launch suspension bridges at Patika, Mandal RAWALPINDI: Troops of Pakistan Army Engineers have launched two foot suspension bridges at Patika and Mandal for the convenience of general public while the efforts are in hand for repair of three bridges near Patiks and Ghori which were badly damaged due to earthquake of 8th October. A ferry service has also been started at Patika by Army Engineers. Meanwhile 520 construction teams of ten men each of Pakistan Army Engineers have so far constructed 30000 shelter homes with the help of CGI Sheets and wooden frames in earthquake affected areas. While another 10000 shelter in district Bagh have been constructed by local at self help basis. In surrounding areas of Muzaffarbad 26 construction teams have constructed 622 shelters homes. Another 44 construction teams have constructed 599 shelter homes in Neelum Valley. In Jhelum Valley as many as 55 construction teams of 10 men each have been able to make 1961 shelters with the help of CGI sheets and woods which will protect the locals from harsh weather during sever winters. In Bagh 50 construction teams have made 11102 shelters with integrated efforts of Army Engineers, Infantry troops, and volunteers who have reached in the areas from different parts of the country. In Gari Dupatt1349 shelters have been constructed while in Rawlakot, Haveli, Dhirkot area as many as 2337 shelters have been made for the needy people. Troops of Army Engineers are working their day in and day out in affected areas of NWFP as well. 323 shelters had been made in Gari Dupata, 922 at Shankiari, 297 in Balakot, 2722 in Batgram and 1245 in Shawal Najaf. US Engineers troops have also completed 21 shelters in Miani Bandi area. 99365 CGI sheets have been shifted so far to affected areas which are being used for construction of these shelter homes. Another 74509 CGI sheets will reach soon in these areas. |
