Shia leader gunned down in Dera Murad Jamali

JACOBABAD: In a fresh wave of sectarian violence, some unidentified assailants gunned down Shia leader Badruddin Maikho at Dera Murad Jamali on Friday.

Badruddin Maikho died on the spot when the armed motorcyclists sprayed volley of bullets at him while he was coming home from the Imambargah.

Badruddin Mekho belongs to Shikarpur district where he has been district office bearer of Shia organization Tehreek Jaffaria.

Recently he shifted to Dera Murad Ali Jamali where he was working as caretaker of Shia seminary and Congregation leader at an Imambargah.

The source said his murder is part of sectarian violence and he had received murder threats many a times in past. Many culprits wanted in sectarian violence in various parts of country were arrested from Dera Murad Jamali, the added.

The body of Badruddin Mekho was sent to his native district Shikarpur after fulfilling necessary legal requirements.
