33000 aid patients in Pakistan: Naseer ISLAMABAD: The Federal for Health Naseer Khan has said that aids is the deadly disease, adding that adopting the Islamic teaching is the best way to avoid the disease. This he stated while addressing to a seminar here on the International Aids Day. The Federal Minister said that a National Aids Programme has been started in the country to counter that deadly disease. He said that number of HIV-affected people in the country are nearly currently 33 thousand. He said that we have to work on emergency basis against aids. Health Minister underlined that importance of media to create awareness among the masses. He emphasized on the parents to teach their children about the serious consequences of aids. He said that that government is trying to register all the aids patients which would be helpful to provide special attention to these patients. Dr. Khalif Blay of World Health Organization (WHO) who also spoke on the occasion said that the government and civil society have to work collectively against aids, world community should play its due role in this context, he added. The representative of UNISEF in Pakistan Umar Aabdi has said that 99 % in Pakistan are safe from this disease, UNISEF is working with the government of Pakistan to improve the situation more. |
