America "done away with" Musharraf: Mirza Aslam Beg

ISLAMABAD: The former Chief of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, Gen (R) Mirza Aslam Beg has said that, America is "done away" with President Musharraf’s services and Washington don’t require him anymore.

Talking to Online on Thursday he said that under the present circumstances, since the Americans do not need President Musharraf’s services anymore, it would not be long before he "takes off his uniform"(resign from his army post).

He said that The Commonwealth had already given President Musharraf a deadline for resigning from his Army Post, but now even America, his biggest ally does not require him either.

According to the philosophy of Gen. Mirza Aslam Beg that time has arrived since America has already conceded defeat in Iraq and Afghanistan, and foresees no further role for President Musharraf.

He said that no formula or scheme for the Kashmir issue could ever be promulgated, without the inclusion and will of Kashmiri polity and armed resistance groups fighting for their homeland’s Independence.

He chided all the "Chenab Formulas", "Ravi Formula", "United States of Kashmir formula" and dozen other "proposals" which have fallen flat on their faces.

Both Pakistan and India would have to include the Kashmiris as their third party in all their talks and endeavors to settle the issue.

He said that the Kashmiri freedom fighters were fighting war of liberation, and India was blaming Kashmiris for incursions, despite the fact that it has built heavy fortifications across LoC and even fenced a good part of it.

He lauded the opening of five points at LoC to facilitate the quake affectees to cross into other parts to meet and assist their relatives.

He stressed on meaningful and conducive talks to settle the cause of Kashmir’s liberation at its earliest.
