8 more die as quake death toll spiraling amid chilling weather

ABBOTTABAD: Eight people including five children died Tuesday of harsh chilly weather in the vicinity of Abbottabad as the October 8 devastated earthquake paved way for more destruction, which left millions homeless in the quake-ravaged zone.

With the quake-torn areas of NWFP in grip of heavy rain and snowfall, Balakot, Alai, Kala Dhaka and Batgram localities were again jolted by a mild tremor early morning.

Saghir and Mudassir died of pneumonia in Alai locality while a girl Nazneen in Kala Dhaka lost battle for life amid chilling weather. Similarly, Khizar Hayat, Altaf, Muhammad Saghir, a woman and another child died of intense chill as the temperature fell below freezing point.

As fatal diseases hunt quake-survivors amid reports that filed hospitals, Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad and hospitals in Mansehra had witnessed the influx of patients of the quake-hit areas.
