Chilly weather, snowfall posing great danger for quake survivors: Imran BAGH: Describing hardships and difficulties of the earthquake survivors in AJK and NWFP, Pakistan Tehrik-I-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said extreme cold chilly weather and snowfall were posing great threats for the earthquake survivors. He stated this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two satellite hospitals of Shaukat Khanam Hospital and provision of corrugated insulated shelters from Imran Khan relief fund here on Monday. He said during his US visits, he had collected some US $0.5 million for the quake victims. "Our first priority is to provide shelters homes to the quake victims as soon as possible because winter is approaching very speedily, which increased fear of more deaths in these areas", he worried. Imran told main purpose of establishing of the two branches of the Shaukat Khanam Hospital in these areas was to conduct surgery of the injured with the latest surgical equipment. PTI chairman demanded of the government should immediately impose taxes on the luxuries goods used by the elite class of the society and should also suspend the projects like new GHQ in Islamabad which had nothing to do with improvement of public lives but only a waste of the money. He urged all this money should be used for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the quake survivors. "With the passage of every day chilly weather is gripping the quake affected areas. Snowfall has also began in these mountainous areas of AJK and NWFP but government still could not understand what it has to do with the worsening situation. He called on the government to provide immediately corrugated insulated shelters in order to save the victims from the cold chilly weather. He earlier visited different areas of the district Bagh along with PTI AJK coordinator Faisal Pirzada. Organizers of the Imran Khan fund Air Marshal (Retd) Shahid Zolfiqar, Sardar Azhar Tariq Farooq Khan, Amir Kiani, Zaher Coordinators were also accompanied him during this occasion. |
