Foundations of new AJK capital to be laid after Geological Survey

ISLAMABAD: The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Maj Gen (retd) Sardar Mohammad Anwar Khan has said that the decision of the foundation of new capital would be made on the recommendations of geologists after the completion of Geological Survey.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of overseas Pakistanis and a TV programme here on Wednesday. He said that Muzaffarabad would be established on the same place, however he added that some adjustment would be needed. He said that the issue of Building Code needs urgent implementation so that people in the affected areas could start construction according to that code.

Sardar Mohammad Anwar said that it would not be safe to establish District Headquarters in Garhidupta as the roads of the area are in the range of lands slides. He termed the success of Donors Conference a big achievement of Pakistan, adding that quake affectees got a new spirit and courage regarding the reconstruction and rehabilitation process. He praised the establishment of National Volunteer Movement (NVM) and termed it the need of the hour. People in the affected areas, he said are in a great shock and volunteers could help them.

AJK President emphasized on the restoration of education system in the quake-hit areas, adding that a lot of work has to be done in this context.
