MMA to soon mull initiate launching anti-govt drive: Qazi KARACHI: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that opposition standing committee would meet soon to decide its agenda to initiate anti-government drive. He was speaking to journalists at the site of previous day’s torched Al-Badr Study Centre belonging to Islami Jammiat Taleba. He said that the movement had been shelved due to the occurring earthquake, but now after contemplating important relief aspects the opposition has decide to start the movement soon. He said that torching of Al-Badr Centre with its huge library of Holy Quran and other religious materiel was a condemnable act, and opposition would raise that issue in the National Assembly, because all important issues are debatable in the Assembly. He said that Karachi was the main industrial hub of the country and some elements are deliberately trying to create discord and disturbances by rekindling hatred and anger among various groups, in the metropolis. He said that the educational Centre of Al-Badr was imparting education to the poor and needy, on free basis. It had virtually no fee structure. He said that an anti-Pakistani organization in Karachi would keep on repeating such nefarious acts of violence and hatred. He demanded government to take immediate effective steps against such elements. Later, in a speech to the students, he strictly refrained them from taking any harsh and destructive step in retaliation. He said that such elements do not want Islam to progress as they are devoid of any religious sentiments. He said they would never succeed in their nefarious designs of discouraging Islamic teachings. |
