SC to take up appeals filed by Rehmat Shah Afridi tomorrow

LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Lahore Bench comprising Justice Khalil Ur Rehman Ramday and Justice Chaudry Ijaz Ahmed will take up the appeals filed by Rehmat Shah Afridi, Chief Editor The Frontier Post on November 22nd against life imprisonment awarded to him by the Lahore High Court.

Rehmat Shah Afridi was arrested on April 1st 1999 by the Anti Narcotics Force Punjab on the charge that he was in possession of twenty kilogram of Hash in his Mercedes car on Mall road Lahore and later on his pointation a truck was intercepted in Faisalabad carrying six hundred fifty kilograms of Hash.

Rehmat Shah Afridi since the first day of his appearance in court has been stating that his arrest was a prefabricated case and it was made on the behest of the then Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif because The Frontier Post had published exclusive stories about the corruption done the then prime minister and some of his close associates.
