Foreign medical teams have established 12 field hospitals in quake affected areas

RAWALPINDI: To treat and provide necessary medical treatment to the needy people in forward areas more than twelve field hospitals by foreign medical teams have been established in the earthquake affected areas of Azad Kashmir.

As many as six field hospitals have been established in Muzaffarabad, one in Gari Dupatta, two in Bagh, one in Rawlakot, one in Panjkot and one in Patikka.

Ten field hospitals established by foreign medical teams in affected areas of NWFP include two in Mansehara, one in Gari Habibullah, three in Balakot, one in Abbottabad, one in Besham, one in Jabori and one in Batgram.

As many as ninety doctors and 230 paramedics of the Pakistan Army have set up Four Forward Treatment Centers in the quake affected areas of AJK and NWFP while as many as sixteen medical treatment teams are also providing necessary relief to the affected people in forward areas.

Beside medical teams of the Navy, eighteen surgical teams of the comprising civil doctors and twenty one heath services are also committed in providing medical treatment to the needy people.

Presently 73 Non Government Organisations including 55 international are also participating in the relief operations aimed to provide medical treatment to the needy people.

Beside treatment in forward areas more that 22000 seriously injured were evacuated to hospitals in the major cities. 11324 patients were evacuated to military hospitals in Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Jhelum, Murree, Kharian, Gujranwala and Lahore. 1852 patients are still admitted in these hospitals most of them in Rawalpindi the remaining have been discharged to various rehabilitation centers or to their homes after necessary medical treatment. At Combined Military Hospitals 4976 patients underwent major operations and 7043 were treated for minor operations.
