Multan Zone new Swimming Champ PESHAWAR: Multan Zone lifted the coveted Army Swimming Championship Trophy 2005. They won eight gold, six silver and one bronze medal and set four new records on the concluding day at Engineer Center Swimming Pool Risalpur. Rawalpindi zone secured second while Karachi zone got third position. The Commandant School of Artillery, Major General Syed Ithar Hussain Shah was the chief guest on the occasion. He witnessed the final and awarded prizes to the Winners of the Championship. He applauded the winners and admired their efforts in setting new records. Seven previous Army records were improved during the championship. Lance NaiK Nisar Ahmad of Multan zone was declared the best swimmer of the championship with 3 Gold Medals and 2 new records in 200 and 400 meters Individual Medley. Naik Mehboob Ahmed set two new records in 400 and 1500 meters free style Swimming. Multan Zone set two records while Rawalpindi Zone set one record in free style relay race. Naik Adil Baig won Gold Medal in 50 and 100 meters free style while Naik Mehboob Ali won Gold Medal in 200, 400 and 1500 meters free style. Naik Imdad Ali got Gold Medal in 50 and 200 meters backstroke swimming. Lance Naik Faiz Muhammad secured first position in 100 meters backstroke and Naik Sana Ullah won Gold Medal in 200-breast stroke. Lance Havaldar Zulfiqar Ali managed Gold Medal in 50 meters butterfly while Naik Muhammad Ibrahim won Gold Medal in 200 meters butterfly. Havaldar Nasir Mehmood Won Gold medals in 50 and 100-meter breaststroke. 300 swimmers from Mangla, Multan, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwaja and Bahawalpur zone contested in 19 events. |
