Chairman HEC Takes Serious Note of Plagiarism ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister/ Chairman Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman taking a serious notice of an act of plagiarism by Mr. Tauseef ur Rehman, Department Head Telecommunication Engineering, International Islamic University, Islamabad has ordered HEC that his name be removed from the list of HEC approved supervisors. Chairman HEC has also asked Rector International Islamic University, Islamabad to initiate an inquiry and take disciplinary action against Mr. S. Tauseef ur Rehman and the students involved in the act of plagiarism. It was brought to the notice of Chairman HEC that a paper published in December 2004 issue of the SIGCSE Bulletin, captioned "Cryptanalysis of some encryption/cipher schemes using related key attack", by Khawaja Amer Hayat, Umar Waqar Anis, and S. Tauseef ur Rehman is the same as a paper that John Kelsey, David Wagner, and Mr. Umar Saif published in 1997. Chairman HEC was also informed that the same three authors also plagiarized a paper by reproducing portions from a paper written by French cryptographer Serge Vaudenay and others. On investigation the act of plagiarism was proved. Taking a serious note of this act Chairman HEC has taken above mentioned actions. |
