'Air force personal convicted in suicide attack on Musharraf re-arrested'

ISLAMABAD: Intelligence agencies have again arrested Mushtaq Ahmad an alleged member of Al-Qaeda who was involved in plotting suicide attacks on General Pervez Musharraf.

Mushtaq Ahmad was serving in PAF and he was sentenced to death by a military court. He had fled from Chaklala air base last November and was absconding.

Over 20 members of Al-Qaeda have been captured from different parts of the country.

British news agency with reference to a security personal told that Mushtaq Ahmad was arrested in the current weak when he was travelling from Lahore to Islamabad. The security and intelligence agencies captured him on motor way. He was traced when he used inter net café in Lahore.

Security personal told that Al-Qaeda operatives have been nabbed throughout the country. These raids are being conducted in the cites of Lahore, Peshawar, Mardan and Bajore agency of NWFP. Two women were also arrested during a crack down on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the official indicated.

Information minister Sheikh Rashid in his interview with a TV channel told that security personnel had apprehended a few people on Thursday but he did not confirm any name.

It happened nothing today. What happened, had happened earlier, he remarked.

Media is attaching importance to Mushtaq Ahmad arrest report. It is not such important thing. Abu Faraj is potential arrest in the world as three Al-Libbi are wanted in the world. Abu Faraj among them has been arrested so far.

"I neither confirm nor contradict the arrest report of Mushtaq Ahmad", he told. Some high profile arrests have been made in the last ten days, he informed. Such people were nabbed who were carrying head money. Some other people in addition to Abu Faraj are also included in them. No media had broad cast these arrests. When US and international TV channel informed about this arrest, Pakistan had to make this disclosure.

When asked if Abu Haraj and other arrested people will be handed over to US, Sheikh Rashid said nothing could be said about it as they are in Pakistan still and are wanted by Pakistan. Abu Faraj matter was very deep as he was master mind of the life attempts on the President General Pervez Musharraf. He had hand in attacks conducted in US, Sheikh Rashid informed.
