US Director National intelligence Admiral (retd) Dennis C. Blair to visit Pakistan on fifteenth March. ISLAMABAD : United States Director National intelligence Admiral (retired) Dennis C. Blair to visit Pakistan on fifteenth March on a 3-day visit; during which he will meet with the political and military leadership including intelligence chief of Inter-services intelligence. Official sources have confirmed that his purpose is to share counter-terrorism strategy, create an effective intelligence mechanism and discuss practical viability of Taliban re-integration in Afghanistan. Director US national intelligence will meet with Interior Minister Rehman Malik, ISI Chief General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, and Corp Commander Peshawar Lt. General Masood Aslam. Dennis will discuss the matters related to regional peace and security, anti-terrorism campaign, situation in Afghanistan, North West Frontier Province and FATA. He will also take views of Pakistani leadership on US retrieval strategy from Afghanistan in July 2011 and transferring powers to Afghan authorities. During the meeting with political leadership will raise its concerns on the US enhanced security screening law, review of US Afghan policy, spill-over effects of US troops surge and increased foreign interference internally. On return, Dennis will place a comprehensive assessment report to the Obama administration, through which later sort consensus from top U.S. commanders and diplomats in Pakistan and Afghanistan on initiating post retrieval strategy, strengthening Pak-US strategic dialogue and prospects of talks with Taliban. US internal debate and sharing prospects with Pak-Afghan governments would help in carving another major review on Afghan policy, which would be announced in December. |
