Funeral prayers of Ajmal Khattak offered, not attended by ANP top leadership AKORA KHATTAK: Veteran politician and famous Pashto poet Mohammad Ajmal Khattak was laid to rest in his native graveyard in Akora Khattak on Monday. The funeral of Ajmal Khattak was attended by large number of the party workers and leaders and other people but Chief Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali, Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and ANP Provincial president Afrasiab Khattak did not attend the funeral of veteran politician. The delegation of ANP headed by Federal Minister for Railways, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Senator Haji Adeel. A delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) headed by Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Pir Sabir Shah also attended the funeral of Ajmal Khattak. Delegations of Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamiat Ulema Islam and Muttahida Quami Movement attended the funeral of Ajmal Khattak. A High Level Afghan delegation was also attended the funeral of veteran politician. The funeral of Ajmal Khattak was also attended by poets from both Pakistan and Afghanistan as late Mr. Khattak was author of several books of poetry and prose in Pashto and Urdu. Ajmal Khattak was born on Sept 15, 1926 and twice served as the president of the Awami National Party and became the party’s general secretary in 1973. |
