BHC awards scholarships to 30 students

ISLAMABAD: The British High Commissioner, Mr Robert Brinkley, Friday reaffirmed the support that the United Kingdom is giving to 30 postgraduate scholarship students at the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar.

Since January 2009, the British High Commission in Islamabad has been funding 30 scholarships for young people from the agencies of FATA, to complete a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) degree programme. The scholars are due to finish their degree programme in January 2011, says a statement issued by the British High Commission.

The scholarship supports the cost of annual fees, tuition and lodging for students from the FATA from a range of backgrounds - including from Kurram and Khyber agencies and also rural Peshawar.

The High Commissioner hosted a lunch for the students, attended by the Director of the Institute of Management Sciences, Dr. Nasser Ali Khan.

The High Commissioner said:

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to meet these young people, who are able to benefit from our scholarships.

Ours is a contribution towards the important efforts that they are making to build stronger, more effective and more accountable institutions across North West Frontier Province. I wish them well for the completion of their studies."
