Task Force formed to convert Islamabad into educational city: NA told ISLAMABAD : The National Assembly on Friday has been informed that a Task Force has been formed by the prime minister to convert Islamabad into country’s first Educational City and a committee with the chairmanship of Secretary Education has also been formed. Federal Education Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bajarani during the question hour on Friday informed the Lower House in written that three meetings of the committee have already been held and all the finalized information would be the part of the website of the Education Ministry. Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Mian Manzoor Wattoo told National Assembly that Pakistan Steel Mills has the area of over 1,19,000 acre and dispelled the report of occupation on any part of the mill. He informed that the country has overall 94,000 Units producing ghee and cooking oil and their standard being monitored strictly. Minister of Sports, Pir Aftab Jillani while responding to a question of Tasnim Sadique told the house that at present work on 47 development projects underway with the total amount of Rs. 2.71 billion. He informed that the construction of 3 Cricket Grounds, 9 Hockey Grounds, 1 badminton court, 4 squash courts while four projects being under constructed in NWFP and an amount of Rs. 42 million to cost these projects. Responding to a question of member of PML-Q, Marvi Memon, Textile Minister Rana Farooq Saeed Khan told the house that an amount of over Rs. 5 million has been approved for R&D. In response to a question of Khalida Mansoor, the minister said that the ministry has started the process of registration to collect and organize the data and so far, nearly 3,000 textile units have submitted online applications for registration. Federal Parliamentary Secretary Tourism while responding to a question of Shaheen Ashfaq said that Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is running a motel and a restaurant at Wahga border. He informed that PTDC Motel Restaurant which was destroyed in devastating October 8, 2005 earthquake has been reconstructed with the total amount of Rs. 14 million. |
