Aitazaz assures Presidency to assist on NRO

ISLAMABAD : Senior PPPP leader former President Supreme Court Bar Association Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan held a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari here Thursday and assured the Presidency to assist it against NRO.

During the meeting Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan ensured President Asif Ali Zardari that even on completion of NRO tenure, he would have complete constitutional protection, as under article248, he could not be call in the court.

Sources from the Presidency further disclosed that during the meeting, Presidency also exchanged views regarding promoting positive relations between the Government and judiciary and consulted with Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on appointment of new attorney general, 17th amendment, and elimination of 58-2B.

Sources further disclosed that during the meeting President Asif Ali Zardari also reiterated that he honored the judiciary and he did not aim to make any decision in haste.

President Asif Ali Zardari also underlined that he aimed for strengthening of democratic institutions in the country and will concede to the decision of the Parliament regarding Presidency powers, sources added.

Barrister Aitazaz Ahsan also reiterated that the Government was committed to ensure the reality of the dreams of Benazir Bhutto adding that the Government will soon fulfill its promises regarding elimination unconstitutional and undemocratic articles from the constitution.
