Baitullah Mehsud Network, mother of all evils: ISPR spokesman

ISLAMABAD : Spokesman Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Athar Abbas has said that Tehrik Taliban Pakistan, Baitullah Mehsud Network was the mother of all evils.

While talking to state-run-TV Channel, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said that TTP-Baitullah group has also links with Al-Qaeda and it was involved in 90 percent of the terrorists’ incidents across Pakistan while the rest of the 10 percent incidents have also its traits with Baitullah Mehsud group.

ISPR Spokesman said that terrorists after their defeat in Swat have fled to the areas of Waziristan where they were using Mehsud areas as their hideouts. He said that there are around 5000 terrorists present in the area, making it inevitable to launch operations against them in Waziristan.

He further said that death of the Taliban Commander, Baitullah Mehsud had created row among the Taliban groups, while death of Taliban commanders and Uzbek commanders was a great set back for the Taliban, who were on the run and army will not spare them or let them regroup or unite again.

In response to a question he said that Pakistan was not following any foreign dictations for the elimination of the terrorism; rather it was following its own strategy plan.
