3 kidnappers arrested, ransom money recovered

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police apprehended three culprits who abducted one boy namely Abdul Wahab of ten year age for ransom and police recovered ransom money of Rs.3-lack 35-thousand from them besides arresting another two gang of dacoits involved in dozens of events of dacoities and robberies along with recovering 44-tolas of gold, illicit arms and mobile phones and a motorcycle from them.

These disclosures were made by City Police Officer, DIG Rao Muhammad Iqbal at a press conference held in his office on Friday afternoon. SSP Operations Sardar Maqsood Khan, SP investigation Rana Shahid, and other senior police officers were also present on this occasion.

CPO Rawalpindi while thrashing out the details of the arrest of the three culprits involved in abduction case of ten year age boy Abdul Wahab for ransom informed that the boy went on tution in Asghar Mall Scheme from his residence located in Kohati bazaar, Rawalpindi but he did not return home on December 4,2008.The parents tried to search and find their son everywhere in the city but failed, he added. Rao Muhammad Iqbal further said that on December 5,2008 the parents of the boy Abdul Wahab, received a call from a mobile phone No.0312-5038781 from an un known person who informed that their son had been abducted and they should arrange money for ransom. They started demanding Rs.50-lacs from the parents and finally they came to a settlement of Rs.5-lakh as ransom. The culprits threatened the parents for dire consequences in case they informed the matter to police. The culprits gave the time to the parents and relatives to come to Wah Garden to pay the amount of ransom and the uncle of the child went to the venue and handed over the amount of ransom to them. CPO informed that they left the child near DAEWOO Adda . He disclosed that the police was aware of all affairs but the parents of the child did not allow it to conduct a raid for the sake of the life of the boy Abdul Wahab. He added that when the culprits released the child, thereafter police under the supervision of SP investigation Rana Shahid narrowing the circle of the culprits reached to them and arresting them recovered ransom amount of Rs.3-lakh 35-thousand from them. Rao Muhammad Iqbal further informed that culprits Muhammad Faisal, Mehboob-ul-Hasan of Wah Cant and Muhammad Khalil of Karyala GujarKhan, Rawlapindi used to commit offences of mobile snatching and robberies on roads, but this time they targeted the boy and abducted him for a huge amount. He said that police team comprising on ASI Zahid Zahoor and constables Zafar Iqbal, Asif, Muhammad Hanif Qadri, Mehboob, Faisal and Imran will be awarded appreciation certificates and cash prizes for this achievement. He said that total 26 offences of abduction for ransom were committed in Rawalpindi District during last three months out of which 25 cases have been resolved by the police and only one case is under investigation and the culprits in this case would also be arrested soon as police has collected clues of these culprits.

Rao Muhammad Iqbal further informed that the culprits of one gang of dacoits known as Alyasa Gang has also been arrested including Muhammad Ilyas alias Toka, Muhammad Khalil, Ahmed Ali and Ifrahim and gold ornaments weighing 44-tolas, four mobile phones, two pistols, two daggers, one double barrel gun and a toka has been recovered from this gang who has admitted its involvement in more than seven cases of dacoity, robbery and street crimes. He said that four culprits of another gang of the dacoits known as Fiaza Gang namely Fiaz alias Fiaza, Waqas Kiani, Naheed Abbas and Iftikhar has also been arrested and a motorcycle and three mobile phones has been recovered from these culprits. He added that these culprits are habitual criminal and they have made confessions of their involvement in various highway robberies during investigation. CPO Rawalpindi said that the arrest of these culprits, would help a lot in controlling crime in the District. He lauded the performance of police in this respect.
